"Agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms." - George Eliot

The relationship with a pet can be one of the most rewarding you'll ever experience. But as with all relationships, there is work, time and cost involved to keep it strong.

Pets require a time commitment that varies based on their individual needs. For instance, puppies require huge amounts of patience, walks every few hours and training. Even an older dog may have accidents or chew new furniture if left unattended and untrained. And while some cats may only ask for fresh water, food and a clean litter box, others are not happy unless they get lots of love and affection.

Cats and dogs provide warmth and companionship, but every pet comes with a price tag. Total first year costs for a cat are estimated at $650 and depending on the size of your dog, the range is anywhere from $800-$1,5000. This does not even include unexpected veterinary expenses.

A relationship with a pet should not be entered into lightly, but once you are able to provide the time, love and support, you will have a best friend for life!
